ECS PROGRAM
Introducing College Without Interruption
Many U.S. Army Reserve units now offer the ECS program, which allows deferment from mobilization and deployment — giving you an uninterrupted path to a college degree. Now you can pursue your goal of completing college with the peace of mind that you won't be deployed. You will still be able to take advantage of the Army Reserve's valuable training and benefits.
TUITION ASSISTANCE
- Selected Reserve Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB): $345 per month for full time
- MGIB "Kicker": Extra $200 to $350 per month for full time (if available)
- Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP): $65,000 maximum benefit
- Tuition Assistance (TA): $4,500 per academic year
Benefits

- TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS) health and dental plan
- $200 per month extra pay
ECS Qualifications
- Must be a high school graduate or graduating senior
- Must score in Test Score Category (TSC) I-IIIA — 50 or higher on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
- Soldier/Student must remain in good standing with their Army Reserve unit by attending scheduled monthly training assemblies and required annual training (typically two weeks during the summer)
- Soldier/Student must enroll as full time (12 or more semester hours or equivalent) or part time (6 or more semester hours or equivalent) after graduation from Initial Entry Training
- Both two-year and four-year schools qualify (includes community and technical colleges)
- Soldier/Student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
General Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien
- 17-35 years old
- Healthy and in good physical condition
- In good moral standing
